Summary

The CMM Programmer is responsible for programming, set up, operation and adjustment of CMM software and equipment. This individual will utilize CMM equipment to conduct dimensional inspections for first offs, in-process and final inspection parts to ensure conformance to design intent, dimensional requirements and other specifications. The individual will have extensive knowledge of CMM equipment operation and programming.

Job Responsibilities

  • CMM modeling/programming using MASTERCAM , PCDMIS, BLADE/BLADERUNNER
  • Follow strict inspection protocol in performing inspection
  • Analyze data to ensure conformance of parts to design intent, dimensional requirements, blueprints and other specifications
  • Provide daily detailed measurement information reports
  • Identify discrepancies and non-conformance issues, communicating report results for corrective action where required
  • Adjust CMM equipment and programming as required to perform inspections
  • Ensure CMM equipment are operated and maintained according to the maintenance schedule, performing minor repairs as necessary and within capabilities
  • Work together with Engineering and other departments as required
  • Update and revise CMM programming in response to engineering change
  • Provide orientation and training to new hire
  • Conduct and assist with calibration
  • Perform mechanical inspections of HPG parts as required
  • Perform other tasks within the department as required

Work Conditions

  • Work in a manufacturing / industrial environment – machine shop inspection area
  • Overtime as required.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with CMM programming, specifically with Brown and Sharp CMM preferred.
  • Strong mechanical background
  • Experience with MASTERCAM and PCDMIS required
  • Knowledge BLADE and BLADERUNNER preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T requirements from complex geometry blueprints
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation and reports.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Experience with and understanding of manufacturing machine shop processed
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • General knowledge of ISO/AS QMS requirements preferred

Title CMM Programmer/Operator

Summary

Developing, running and/or modifying programs to measure manufactured parts, components, checking fixtures and other objects as requested, using the software PC DMIS on a Brown and Sharp CMM. The programmer is responsible for using 3D computer models or create them from paper drawings if not existing, for providing CMM data reports in the format requested, and for ensuring the accuracy of the measurements and data. Mechanical inspections, first article inspections, in-process inspections, and visual inspections of parts are also functions of the position.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop CMM programs using PC-DMIS software to collect data on manufactured parts, components, assemblies, checking fixtures, tooling, or other objects
  • Run CMM programs to inspect manufactured part on CMM
  • Using CMM data, develop reports to meet the customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot existing CMM programs and reports
  • Assist in problem solving and continuous improvement activities
  • Assist as needed in the calibration and certification of all process inspection & test equipment
  • Learn and operate existing Faro Arm
  • Ensure timely completion of layouts and reports
  • Store CMM data, reports and documents according defined structure and naming convention

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma
  • Detailed, precise and accurate
  • 7 + years of experience programming a CMM using PC-DMIS software
  • Metrologic software experience a must.
  • Fundamental understand of statistics & other (PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP)
  • Proficient in GD&T and practical application of GD&T to manufactured parts
  • Proficient in the use of measuring devices including caliper, indicators, micrometers, height gage,
  • Competent in the reading and use of CAD data and 3D models
