Summary

Develop and maintain the master schedule to meet sales and operational objectives for on time delivery and efficient work center loading.  Works closely with Customer Service, Purchasing and Manufacturing to ensure materials, components and outside processes are planned and delivered to ensure smooth work flow.  Identifies trends and makes realistic assumptions concerning manufacturing capacity material availability, lead times and other operating variables.

Job Responsibilities

  • To plan, arrange, control and optimize work and workloads and release orders to production in order to ensure on time delivery utilizing the Advanced Scheduling Software application.
  • Prepare Capacity Planning tools for regular review and participate in planning machinery, labor and sales forecasting.
  • Facilitate weekly schedule review meetings, updating the status of the current schedule and informing the team of any potential issues while provide recommendations and solutions to achieving delivery dates ahead of impact.
  • Manage the Production Schedule Change Process to ensure seamless transitions in production activities.
  • Maintain correct data inputs (labour, machine, inventory etc.) from production staff in order to roll up accurate department production times, costs and material usage.
  • Works closely with purchasing to ensure raw material and component delivery meet manufacturing objectives.
  • Daily review of departmental progress to plan and works with manufacturing to make adjustment to meet objectives.
  • Creates daily hot list and populates communication board.
  • Monitors inventory to customer contract commitment to purchase.
  • Communicates with customers, sales, purchasing, manufacturing and shipping to meet promised delivery dates.

Master Scheduler

As part of the Supply Chain Team, our Master Scheduler is responsible for the daily scheduling of all work centers and ensuring production schedules meet or exceed customer delivery expectations in a low volume / mixed model manufacturing environment.

The Master Scheduler should be proficient in the use of MRP/ERP systems, Finite Forward Scheduling and Theory of Constraints with experience implementing Kanban / Heijunka replenishment tools.  Other skills include use of and maintence of master data in ERP/MRP systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Production Schedules to maximize the company’s throughput, efficiency and effectiveness and communicate demand and changes to Production Team daily
  • Optimize the flow of raw materials and Work in Process throughout the plant to minimize inventory levels, minimize transaction volumes and continuously improve efficiency in relation to production schedules
  • Synchronizes production schedules between departments
  • Follow-up that schedules are being followed and communicate with planning
  • Responsible to identify and trigger modifications needed to Bills of Materials and Routes and lead-times and other master data to keep the finite forward scheduling system effective and efficient.
  • Proactively identify, communicate and de-conflict scheduling issues
  • Monitors capacity levels for each resource and recommends equipment and staffing level changes to support growth trends

A typical work week is between 40-50 hours.  Periodic and/or unexpected business necessity may require individual  to work above and beyond the standard schedule.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.
  • Minimum of 7 years operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines within a controlled Mil-Aerospace or medical parts machining, job shop environment.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.

  • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.
  • Minimum of 7 years operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines within a controlled Mil-Aerospace or medical parts machining, job shop environment.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written) as it relates to the job
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
  • Willing to run multiple machines independently or in a team environment.
