Master Scheduler

The ideal candidate will have the following traits: competitive, highly organized, ambitious, impatient, highly aware of time management, and an open and transparent communicator.

As part of the Supply Chain Team, our Master Scheduler is responsible for the daily scheduling of all work centers and ensuring production schedules meet or exceed customer delivery expectations in a low volume / mixed model manufacturing environment.

The Master Scheduler should be proficient in the use of MRP/ERP systems, Finite Forward Scheduling and Theory of Constraints with experience implementing Kanban / Heijunka replenishment tools.  Other skills include use of and maintence of master data in ERP/MRP systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Production Schedules to maximize the company’s throughput, efficiency and effectiveness and communicate demand and changes to Production Team daily
  • Optimize the flow of raw materials and Work in Process throughout the plant to minimize inventory levels, minimize transaction volumes and continuously improve efficiency in relation to production schedules
  • Synchronizes production schedules between departments
  • Follow-up that schedules are being followed and communicate with planning
  • Responsible to identify and trigger modifications needed to Bills of Materials and Routes and lead-times and other master data to keep the finite forward scheduling system effective and efficient.
  • Proactively identify, communicate and de-conflict scheduling issues
  • Monitors capacity levels for each resource and recommends equipment and staffing level changes to support growth trends
  • Works with Plant Manager to justify and obtain approval for appropriate changes
  • Keeps Plant Manager apprised of issues and seeks guidance as appropriate
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed
  • Supports safety and quality goals throughout the facility
  • Support continuous improvement projects
  • Provide reports/metrics to management as required

 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering
  • Supply Planning Certification CPIM, CSCP or CPSM helpful.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience hands-on Production Planning and Master Scheduling
  • Previous experience developing Master Scheduling methods and work-flows
  • Experience using lean manufacturing pull systems. level loading, and capacity planning tools preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to be both deeply analytical and provide executive level messaging and communications
  • Super-user of Excel (macros, algorithms, SQL statements), and Infor Syteline
  • Ability to read an engineering drawing and bill of materials
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and interdepartmental group commitments to effectively achieve production goals and objectives

Job Description

This position will be responsible for the direct point of contact for respective customers via telecon and email within a manufacturing environment. Response time / acknowledgement to customer requests must be relayed back to the customer ASAP with the utmost urgency. Must be cognizant of respective open orders, statuses, sales volume, and pertinent contact information and will be able to intelligently respond to customer needs with or without assistance from other departments. This position also serves as the liaison between the company, MMPCo, and the voice of the customer.

Requirements:

Must have previous customer service experience within a manufacturing environment. Individuals must demonstrate leadership, multi tasking capabilities and the ability to communicate clear, accurate information to both external and internal customers. These positions require self control, constant professionalism and the ability to handle stress and stressful situations with confidence and integrity.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Attend / facilitate daily CDA (Customer Delivery Action) meeting
  • Retrieve, acknowledge and maintain customer portals
  • Communicate customer activities to Sales Manager(s) / CEO / Director of Customer Service

  1. An ideal Mill Programming candidate would be a Class “A” Machinist able to demonstrate proficiency setting up and operating 3, 4, or 5 Axis Milling machines.
  2. An ideal candidate would have experience in the “G Code” programming of 3, 4, or 5 Axis CNC milling machines in Camworks and or Mastercam CAM Software on Fanuc and Mazak Controls.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Inspector function is responsible for ensuring internal and externally produced parts are sampled against pertinent specifications and records are monitored and kept per MMP and customer procedures. Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production and finished products.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspection Duties:
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducts visual and measurement tests, rejects and accepts product in ERP system and returns discrepant materials to its source.
  • Approves in-process production product by confirming specifications, conducts visual and measurement tests communicating required adjustments to production supervision.
  • Approves finished product by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning product for rework and confirming reworked product.
  • Documents inspection results by completing forms, logs and systems.
  • Keeps measurement devices operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs as needed.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

Accomplished quality and organization mission by completing related results as directed and as needed.

  • Helps ensure the satisfactory application of customer service standards and customer satisfaction programs.

STANDARD MANAGEMENT WORK WEEK:

  • MMP operates on a standardized management work week based on established operating schedules. The standardized schedule affords management and associates the opportunity to balance their personal and professional life styles. The standard work week for  quality inspector/technician  is 5 day work week M-F with hours based on internal and external  requirements. Travel is possible but very limited. A typical work week is between 40-50 hours.  Periodic and/or unexpected business necessity may require individual  to work above and beyond the standard schedule.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong people interpersonal communicating skills.
  • Strong background in SPC, tool maintenance and measurement practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical data.

As a Class A Machinist, you will be expected to perform the following tasks proficiently:

 

  • Demonstrate ability to submit process improvement sheets with tooling suggestions. Demonstrate cycle time reduction as a result of improvements.
  • Actively review each job for Setup and Cycle Time reductions – process improvement sheets – including evaluating non-machining component of cycle time (externalizing setups, etc).
  • Thoroughly understand what a tool is supposed to do before it cuts and be able to manage it through the cycle to ensure it does what is intended without damage to machine, tooling or part.
  • Demonstrate ability to produce parts across multiple material types with no scrap related to material properties.
  • Communicate information regarding complex setups and any issues with Team Leader. Including any discrepancies in traveler, materials, etc.
  • Thoroughly understand programming language, ability to program medium complexity parts with G codes.
  • Ability to use tool list data to research and find alternative tools, which are validated by the programmer and captured on the tool list/breakdown process.
  • Ability to identify potential issues related to setup, fixturing, tooling, and/or feeds and speeds setting; resolve them and communicate as appropriate to Supervisor to lock in changes.
  • Able to working through complex cuts, angles, surface machining of complex surfaces etc.
  • Ability to check and inspect all features manually.
  • Ability to develop manual machining approach and detailed instructions that other operators can follow.
  • Ability to read and interpret CMM inspection reports.
  • Ability to fluently program on Cam Works.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.
  • Minimum of 7 years operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines within a controlled Mil-Aerospace or medical parts machining, job shop environment.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written) as it relates to the job
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
  • Willing to run multiple machines independently or in a team environment.
